Exchange Hosting - Create A New Public Folder In Outlook

Active Exchange services, see Add Hosted Services.

This article demonstrates how to create a public folder in Outlook 2010.

Please note that public folders will be phased out of service by the end of 2012, and are not available to new customers.   Organizations with public folders in place should start planning a migration to SharePoint 2010.

1. With Outlook 2010 click on the small folder icon towards the bottom of Outlook.

2. Expand the All Public Folders hierarchy until the organizational id is displayed.

3. Right click on that organization id and select New Folder.

4. Enter a name for the folder and then click OK.

5. The folder created will by default inherit the permissions of the root folder. The account admin may change access to the folder manually from here.
