SharePoint Hosting - Open A Document Library with Explorer

Prerequisites

Active Exchange or SharePoint services, see Add Hosted Services.

 

Summary

This article will demonstrate how to open a SharePoint document library with Explorer.

 


1. Navigate and login to the organization's SharePoint website.

 

2. From the site home, click on the appropriate document library you wish to open.

3. On the Ribbon, click on Library. Under the section Connect & Export click on Open with Explorer.

Note: This option is only available in Internet Explorer. The site must be added to the Trusted Zones in order to Open with Explorer.

4. After awhile after clicking the icon, a series of two security prompts will open. Enter your password and click OK.

Next, check the option "Do not show me the warning for this program again" and click Allow.

5. After a brief moment the document library from SharePoint will appear under the Network tree in Explorer. Drag and drop your documents in here to upload them to SharePoint. You may also modify or delete documents in here.
