SharePoint Hosting - Grant Anonymous User Access

Prerequisites

Active Exchange or SharePoint services, see Add Hosted Services.

Summary

This article will demonstrate how to grant anonymous user access.

1. Navigate and login to the organization's SharePoint website.

2. From the site home, click on Site Actions, and then click Site Permissions.

3. Click on the Anonymous Access button.

4. After the Anonymous Access window loads, designate the access type; Entire Web Site, List and Libraries, and Nothing. Refer to the image below to detailed access information. Additionally please consider inherent rights when granting Anonymous access. If anonymous access is given at the default home folder (parent folder) of the site, then EVERY content type as specified would be accessible to the user. A better practice would be to segment content designed for anonymous users into its own subsite, and then granting accessing. This procedure may be repeated as necessary for any site, list, or library. Once satisified with the access rights click OK.

5. The access rights of the anonymous user will now be listed with organization users, confirming access to the site/list/library.
